Maths Problem

Today for maths we had to show a way to work out a problem which was " A school has 400
students. They all came to school by bus, and each bus carries the same number of students. How many students might there be on each bus"? Me and Olivia worked it out three ways. One way was to lay out 16 groups of 25 with the pop sticks and when we did that we went 16 x 25 which is 400. There was another way when we went 100 x 4 which equals 400 as well. Because 100 + 100= 200 and 200 + 200= 400. Another way is similar to the first one. Because 25 + 25=50 so we went 50 x 8 which is 400. We lay out 8 groups of 50. And the first one is 25 x 16= 400 and because it is 16 we half it to 8 and then 50 x 8 = 400 too. And 25 is half of 50. Please check out the photos at the bottom and comment:)

This is my working out for 25 x 16

This is our working out for 25 x 16

This is a bundle of ten

Optimist Yachting Day 3

Boom! I hit a humongous rock as I kayaked through the calm water of Pandora Pond. I see children happily paddling past me. Room 16 just formed a line of kayaks without anybody telling us to. I squished in between Samuel and Marcus. The line started to break like someone moving to things apart. It was a huge jumble of kids once again. As we reach the shore we hop out of the kayaks and pull them further. I was the second one to be on shore. Everyone put their paddle in a pile, took their life jackets of and rushed to the yachts. Everyone took a yellow life jacket slipped it on, fastened it up and listened very carefully to Mr Ford. He told us what way the wind was facing. Everyone faced the wind directly. I chose Marcus for my partner in the yacht. It was a race. First one to turn left around the white ball was the winner. But we didn't make it. We both went really well. I tacked left and right. “It is right there” I said. “The white ball” We were almost about to reach it when the wind suddenly picked up. We quickly turned. And we didn't make it. We were going to go again when suddenly Mr Ford shouted we had to go in. At least we had lots of fun!

Optimist Yachting Day 2

Reflection for Yachting and Kayaking
Something I was pleased with was that Mr M thought that I was a confident person to be a leader in the yacht. Because he thought that I was showing leadership to Shivom on
day 1.
I really enjoyed learning that the wind was drifting us slowly in the kayaks. Because nobody noticed that the wind was actually drifting us until Mr M told us.

Something I found hard was paddling against the wind because the wind was really strong and it tried to push me back.
Something that made me think was that the wind was changing directions because in the yacht me and Dylan were looking at the flag of New Zealand and steered the yacht that way.
Something I want to get better at is showing courage and not being scared all the time.

Yachting Reflection Day 1

Optimist Yachting by hemani1jf4 on GoAnimate

Reflection for Yachting
Something I was pleased with was that me and Shivom worked hard on the Optimist yacht because at the start me and Shivom had trouble keeping the boat straight. And at the end we finally got it and enjoyed sailing too.
I really enjoyed learning that the when you move the tiller right it the boat moves left. Because whenever I put the tiller right I was wondering why the boat went left. And I figured it out because I knew that the boat goes opposite to the tiller.

Something I found hard was keeping the yacht balanced so it can go straight. Because what I thought in my head was whenever we were turning back to shore I thought that the boat would capsize.
Something that made me think was that we have to put our right hand on the blue tape on the paddle of the kayak because if I placed my left hand on the blue tape I am holding it upside down
Something I want to get better at is explaining to my partner how to do a job like the mainsheet or the tiller because it was Shivom’s first time.

How I can improve that is I can ask my partner if they need help and if they say yes I can help them do the job right.

The Incredible Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal

Introduction

The story that I am going to tell you is based on the Taj Mahal in India. It is about how a man named Sha Jahan was in love with a lady named Taz Mahal. That name is what the Taj Mahal is named after.

Story

Once in the 17th century ( 1600’s ) there was a man named Sha Jahan which is known as the emperor. He met a lady which was named Taz Mahal. He and she were in love. And Taz Mahal was Sha Jahan’s favourite wife. They were married. One day as the queen ( Taz Mahal ) was giving birth to a child, she died.

Sha Jahan was so upset he locked himself away from everyone else in a room for eight days and didn't come out until the eighth day. Everyone were crowding around the room waiting until he will come out. Suddenly the door flew open and out came someone which looked nothing like Sha Jahan but was old and wrinkly, back not straight hair is as white as the snow.

But actually he was the king but had turned old. He commanded 20,000 people in Agra to build a building which is known as the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is all white marble. With beautiful pictures of flowers. Soon the Sha Jahan died too.

His wife and himself are buried under the Taj mahal. This story is true. I hope that I can see the Taj Mahal one day. And it is in Agra where people are not allowed to drive cars on the path to the Taj Mahal. They want the path clean. Please check out the video below too.
